Solidarity with Ukraine

At this difficult time for Europe and the world, our prayers are foremost with the people of Ukraine. In the coming weeks we are hosting a number of events at St Giles to show our support and raise funds for those affected by the terrible conflict in that country. Talk by Thomas Newton, Sky News, 13 March at 6.30pm At Evensong this week we are delighted to welcome Thomas Newton from Sky News, who will talk about his experiences as a journalist on the frontline in Kyiv. This will be a time to hear some of the untold personal stories, to offer our prayers and to stand in solidarity with those in adversity. Thomas is a journalist and TV Producer for Sky News, working both at home and abroad. He’s covered several stories around the World, including the elections of Donald Trump and Joe Biden. And more regularly produces Sky News Tonight with Dermot Murnaghan.

"Lift up your Hearts": Singing for Ukraine, 21 March at 2.30pm Next Sunday at 2.30pm we are hosting a community event at St. Giles: Lift up your hearts to support those affected by the current conflict. The event is taking shape as we speak, but will essentially be a big ‘come and sing’ event open to everyone in the community. Songs will include music from the shows as well as some popular hits and will be hosted by The Rector in conjunction with the conductor Charlotte Brosnan. There will be a collection to assist aid amongst Ukrainian refugees. Keep a look out for updates in the coming days and spread the word! The aim is to raise some much needed funds and to bring people together at this difficult time.
