Rector Tom Sander invites you to enter into the heart of the Christian mystery: suffering, sacrifice, and redemption.

At the start of Passiontide I reflected on Hebrews 9:11–15, which draws us deeply into the holy mystery of this sacred time. Christ, our high priest, enters not an earthly sanctuary but the perfect one, offering not animal blood but his own, securing eternal redemption. The message for us is clear: enter in. This is not distant theology, but an invitation—to prepare, to respond, and to embody this truth in our lives.
Christ’s sacrifice is complete and sufficient. Yet we are called not only to remember it, but to enter it more deeply, with reverence, gratitude, and openness. Preparation is not passive; it requires intention.
Holy week is a time to think deeply and consider: how will we walk with Christ in the days ahead?
First, I think we are called to be present in the parish. Holy Week is something we do together. Its liturgies are not optional—they are the Church at its most alive. To show up is to say this story matters. It means making space, engaging fully, and welcoming others—especially those who may be searching.
Second, we are called to be present in our homes. Faith must be lived daily. Prayer, Scripture, and honest conversations about sacrifice and hope help shape our lives and relationships.
Third, we are called to be present in our workplaces. Often this is quiet witness: integrity, compassion, courage, and hope. Small acts speak powerfully.
Ask yourself, where am I called to show up more fully?
We do not prepare to earn God’s love. Christ has already opened the way. We are invited to follow—to the cross, through silence, and toward Easter joy.
The world needs not only to hear redemption, but to see it—in us. Please be present in Church for these sacred days. Amen.
