Ashridge Forest Parish Walk | Saturday 13 April
The next parish walk will be on Saturday 13th April, which will be a return to the Ashridge Forest in Hertfordshire led by the Rector.
We will meet at Euston Station at 9.30am and get a train to Tring, from where our walk will begin. You will need £23 to cover the cost of a standard return ticket. The paths will be chalky but may be muddy so sensible walking shoes will be needed. The walk should take a little over three hours and we hope to stop afterwards for lunch at The Trooper .
Please can you sign up on the sheet in church this Sunday or email Lesley before Wednesday 10th April to confirm whether you would like to come on the walk and whether you would like us to book a space for you in the pub for you to buy your lunch there. Alternatively, please bring a packed lunch.
Year for Prayer Guest Preacher Series | 21 April
On 21 April at 6.30pm we will welcome our next guest preacher in the Year for Prayer series. The Very Reverend Mark Oakley is Dean of Southwark Cathedral and a distinguished author and broadcaster. He will be familiar to many, having previously served as Canon Chancellor of St Paul's Cathedral and as Rector of St Paul's Covent Garden.
Mark holds a PhD in English literature and has written extensively on the ways literature can explore theological themes, including in his 2016 book The Splash of Words: Believing in Poetry. He has been awarded both the Michael Ramsey Prize for theological writing and the Lanfranc Award, by the Archbishop of Canterbury, for education and scholarship. He will be preaching for us on the theme of Poetry as Prayer.
