Many of you will remember Edward McMillan, who served as our Parish Assistant in 2022-3. I am pleased to say that Edward is now on the final leg of his three years of ordination training at Ridley Hall, Cambridge and looks forward to ordination at Petertide this year. He is to serve his curacy at Chelsea Old Church, which is a great fit for him and I have every confidence that he will turn out to be a fine minister of the Gospel. It has been wonderful to be part of Edward’s discernment towards this moment and our prayers go with him as he prepares for this move.
God’s call speaks to every generation and I am pleased to say that we have another person coming to join us here as a Parish Assistant.

I’d like to introduce you to Isaac Hodnett who will begin his time with us at Evensong on Sunday 1st of February. I very much look forward to welcoming Isaac into the community of St. Giles.
Please do come along on the 1st to welcome him and his family. He has offered these words of introduction:
I was first drawn to the Church through the Anglican choral tradition, where music offered me a welcoming way into worship and parish life. Whilst at secondary school, I was fortunate to hold an organ scholarship at my local parish church, which helped me grow musically and also gave me a strong sense of belonging in the life of the Church.
Music is still a big part of my life, and alongside my work at St Giles I’m currently an intern with the English Chamber Choir, where I have the pleasure of singing a wide range of choral repertoire and being immersed in England’s rich tradition of church music and architecture. I particularly enjoy visiting and performing in historic church buildings.
I am very grateful for the opportunity to become part of the life of St Giles-in-the-Fields and look forward to getting to know the congregation, supporting the parish, and sharing in its worship and fellowship.
