Special Services
As well as our regular Services at St Giles, special Services take place to mark the Christian Year.

Our next Special Services are for Harvest thanksgiving

  Sunday 29th June Julian's last service - Preacher The Bishop of Malaita, Melanesia 11.00 a.m St Peter's Day


  • Advent - an Advent Carol Service of readings and music centred around the great advent antiphons

 

  • Christmas - a series of carol Services at times convenient to local residents and businesses each followed by seasonal hospitality.

  • Lent - Ash Wednesday Services, including an evening Service with ashing

  • Palm Sunday - at the main Sunday Service - the blessing and distribution of palm crosses.

  • Good Friday - a traditional 3 hour Service with a meditation on the passion

 

  • Easter Day - Holy Communion 8.00 am, Morning Prayer 10.15 am, Choral Holy Communion 11.00 am and Evensong at 6.0 pm

 

  • Harvest Thanksgiving - The first Sunday in October is kept as a thanksgiving for this year's harvest
  • Remembrance Day - including an Act of Remembrance and 2 minutes silence at 11.00 am

 

  • All Souls - a Service of prayers, readings and music in remembrance of those who have died

 

  • St Giles - we keep the nearest Sunday to September 1st as our Patronal Festival and at the Sung Eucharist we remember our benefactors by name. the service is followed by a buffet lunch in the Vestry Room to which all are invited.
