Spring - Summer Recital series 2008
Well, spring has arrived (hopefully by now) and a new series of lunchtime recitals are underway at St. Giles. For this season, the viola, piano and voice make prominent appearances.
There is a Russian theme running through some of the recitals. Composers including Rachmaninoff, Tchaikovsky, Shchedrin, Khandoshkin, Shostakovitch and Chesnokov all contribute to the series.
So whether you are after some Sex, Crime and Punishment at the Persian Court - (our first recital is a highlight - Hasse's "Siroe, re di Persia" last performed in Bologna 1733 - you can hear the whole work in September); the unusual combination of viola, clarinet and piano, or the sound of soprano and counter-tenor, there is something for everyone.
...and please look out for our new series of organ recitals on the newly restored William Drake organ! These take place on the first Tuesday of the month.
Have a wonderful summer and thank you to everyone who supports the concerts at St. Giles-in-the-Fields.
Jonathan.
